Road Safety and Transportation

Nearly 1.3 million people are killed, with an additional 20 to 50 million remaining critically injured or permanently disabled, from road crashes every year. Without sustained action, the United Nations projects that road deaths will become the 7th leading cause of death by 2030. An ambitious agenda to drastically curb this trend requires sustained education and outreach across key road safety interventions that are effective in reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries across all geographies.

Why

Road Safety and Transportation?

Considering the scope and scale of the impacts of poor road safety and transportation on global health and wellbeing, UL Education and Outreach developed an ambitious agenda to contribute towards improving road and transportation safety. The contributing factors to building safer transportation systems include engaging with partners to collectively solve this critical challenge by means of change in policy, culture, awareness and training. To this extent, we partnered with WRI India (World Resources Institute) to research the leading causes of critical road injuries, build the policy, and create the training materials to mitigate them.
