WRI is a global research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity, and human well-being. The UL-WRI partnership aims at reducing road crash deaths and injuries involving public buses in India. The project is focused on studying bus crashes across 6 cities/ regions, developing evidence-based solutions to address specific safety concerns, assisting the bus agencies in implementing such solutions and measuring the impact on crash reduction.
WRI and UL’s work towards improving safety of public buses in India has resulted in positive results in the last three years. Both UL and WRI recognize that improving safety of public buses services in India will require a sustained, long-term effort. The ‘Safer Public Bus Transportation’ project is implemented in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI) with the aim of reducing road crash deaths and injuries involving public buses in India by adopting multi-level evidence-based interventions. Through this initiative, WRI and UL collaborate with the bus transit agencies for developing solutions to address specific safety concerns and measuring the impact on crash reduction.
